The current 50-degree waters in North Carolina is enough to pause diving for all but the most die-hard (and a bit crazy) scuba divers. Below is our Top dive activities you can do now, despite the cold water.
- Get Your Gear Serviced – It is vital that you have your gear serviced per manufacturer recommendations (usually annually) plus your tanks require annual Visual Inspections (VIPs) and hydrostatic testing every 5-years. There is normal wear-and-tear on equipment no matter how well you take care of your gear. Orings wear out, moisture causes corrosion and deterioration, etc. The time to learn that your gear needs service cannot be while you are underwater! Get your gear serviced now so that everything will be good to go once dive season kicks off! Learn more about our Equipment Services here. We even offer concierge service to pick-up your gear from your home!
- Enriched Air/ Nitrox Training – Yes, there are still scuba classes you can take that do not require you to go into the cold water! The PADI Enriched Air course is the most popular course divers take after becoming certified. Enriched air contains less nitrogen than regular air. Breathing less nitrogen means you can enjoy longer dives and shorter surface intervals. This course is completed via eLearning and a 2-hour in person workshop ON LAND! Learn more here.
- Dive Trips – Water in North Carolina cold? Then go on a trip! There are a plethora of awesome dive sites in the Florida, the Carribean, and Latin America with water temperatures in the high 70s/ low 80s. Oh that warm water would feel nice right now!
You invested time and money getting certified. Don’t let it go to waste! We look forward to diving with you in the (very) near future!
