This is where it all begins. PADI Open Water Diver is the first scuba certification level. A highly-trained PADI Instructor will teach you how to scuba dive in a relaxed, supportive learning environment.
By the end of the course you will receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification from the most recognizable scuba organization in the world: PADI. You will have the skills and knowledge to dive at home or abroad with your dive buddy to a maximum depth of 18m/ 60ft.
Course Layout
The PADI Open Water certificaiton course is a 2-step process. Start by registering for Step 1 which includes Orientation and eLearning training where you will learn diving principles. Step 1 is completed online from the comfort of your home and does not require any equipment (except for a computer or mobile device).
Step 2 is where you get wet! You will conduct skills training in a swimming pool where you will take your first breaths underwater! After you master the skills in a pool we will then conduct four open water dives at the scuba training facility at Fantasy Lake Adventure Park near Wake Forest, NC.

Course Expected length:
- eLearning (5-10 hours)
- Confined water pool sessions (1 day)
- Open water dive sessions at Fantasy Lake (2 days)
Prerequisites:
- 10 years old for Junior Open Water Diver
- 15 years old for Open Water Diver
Needed Equipment:
- Students are required to have their own mask, snorkel, and fins
